HMD Secure partners with OsmAnd to deliver privacy-first, offline navigation for mission-critical environments
Espoo, Finland — 23.12.2025 — HMD Secure has announced a strategic partnership with OsmAnd, a Netherlands-based developer of open-source navigation technology built on OpenStreetMap data.
The partnership brings fully offline, privacy-centric navigation to selected rugged and secure HMD Secure devices, ensuring reliable guidance in low-connectivity and high-security environments. Together, the companies are integrating and optimising OsmAnd for small-screen and keypad-based terminals, validating its open, auditable, and non-intrusive codebase, and aligning on future tactical navigation features such as GPX tracking, waypoint sharing, and route planning under air-gapped conditions.
OsmAnd’s open-source foundation and offline-first design make it ideally suited for sovereign, defence, and industrial deployments, where data transparency, usability, and operational reliability are mission-critical.
